Many of anime and manga i grew up with are influenced by Blade Runner. It's such an iconic film, and it is a great material to study shadow and light. Because of my graphic design background, for a long time, I was quite reluctant to use any shadow or light: usage of shadow is mostly considered as poor taste( drop shadow on the type elements, and lens flare etc.) so I’m learning now how to add shadow and light.
