I recently watched “Tokyo Story(東京物語)” by Yasujiro Ozu(小津安二郎), and did few composition studies. I heard this film is considered the GOAT of the films. Now, I haven't watched enough films to make the call but I definitely put it at the top of my favorite lists.I cant believe this was made less than 10 years after WWII, and 75 years ago, feel not so old but old at same time. The acting, dialogue and pace surely feels old time-y, and today’s Tokyo is nothing like this Tokyo in the film but the story still resonates stronger than ever. And you can sense Ozu’s influence on today's film makers and writers, like Kazuo Ishiguro and many others. This is not a flashy film with lots of ups and downs, but it stays with you for a long time after you watch it. He uses many of the same actors so its fun to see someone’s dad or daughter on one film and sister or wife on another film.
